All of my paintings and drawings are done from memory. In the memory there is both snapshot and process, potential and how it is manifested. Our perception of a thing seen is always changing, light and space shifting as time passes. This is what I find most beautiful. It is this which I seek to capture while painting. I do this by trying to remember what is essential to both the feeling and form of the subject; the work progresses from there. My work is then not just representation, it is also a presentation of an inner state of remembering and being. In this way I do not think of my paintings as objects on a wall, but more as guides, which when perceived move the mind.
